General Discussion / flex filament widget

hello z temp world!

after many hours trying to crack this myself. someone else has done it and it works brilliantly. so well in fact ive managed to print my first ever 12hour print on using ninjaflex with no jamming and amazing quality. shit the bed! its the best mod i have ever made to my zortrax.... apart from a ztemp of course

General Discussion / all metal feed tube
« on: October 21, 2017, 12:40:13 PM »
Hiya

just got to play with all metal feed tube but am having problems with blockages/ feeding. ive measured the filament and its definetly getting stuck in the feed tube. Im using a pa12 filament. i ve swapped out to a new 0.5 nozzle and tried up to 300c to ensure the material is viscous enough.

what should the bore size be in the tube?

by the way customs took another £20 off my hands for just the two feed tubes you sent over. thats almost the cost of the parts!

thanks
paul

been using the beta version of z suite. some useful stuff on there. I still need my z temp control and z sense though!

Its really memory intensive, the support structures are different, you can save presets!!!! yehah!!! and when its saves out zcode it saves a .txt file with all the settings. Im liking it so far apart from the crashes but it is in beta.

ive used ngen a little as there are some great colours in the range. i'm getting little warpage even when i pretty much cover the bed. im running 80c bed and 230 nozzle. it prints out but because its slightly shiny it highlights imperfections.

like you ive tried a million materials. (actually probably 50+) im always looking for the best layer adhesion and finish. Ive been going through a nylon phase for a while and have had some good success with adding a tufnol sheet to the bed and using my top cover. however ive reverted back to ASA, ABS X, Polymax pla and Polymaker PC-MAX as my go to materials.

no sorry. there was a lot to see. of the materials i saw that haydale.com are bringing out a graphene enhanced abs. Ive been using their graphene enhance pla which is really strong and looks pretty and is easy to print. however its hard to get info out of them.

I didnt see any other materials that im into. Filamentum were there with a range of their stuff. ive been using alot of their ASA which is super tough.

Ive been looking into perhaps getting an sls machine and there were two companies with sub £5000 machines that looked pretty good but not mature enough to take a gamble.

3dgence had an amazingly sturdy and well engineered desktop printer with a really good nozzle swapping system and perfect flexible filament printing. another called http://www.felixprinters.com/ with some also amazingly good detail to their dual nozzle system.

of course there was prusa mk3 looking as diy as ever but with probably the best tech on any printer. i wish Zortrax were this innovative.

hi nagisa

i thought i replied to this.

If im honest. i dont know. but the key thing is that it stabilises the ambient temperature and reduces warping. Not being a scientist most if not all my mods are doing through trial and error. The lid is not completely sealed as the point for me was to control the temp and not necessarily fumes as i know some enclosures do.

Im a finding my extruder motors is getting very hot at the moment as ive been doing lots of long prints.

anyone looked at cooling fans for this? i reckon i could split the hot end cooling fan with this.

cheers

General Discussion / Zortrax top cover
« on: April 18, 2017, 10:43:19 AM »
Hi all

ive just knocked myself up a top cover for my m200. it works a treat!

I found it to be useful to stabilise temperatures and virtually elimainate warpage on large coverage prints. It also dumbs down the fan noise too.

Its produced in durable PETG, very easily installed and has a lift up lid. I can also supply fixings and brackets

There are others on the market which are ridiculously expensive and OTT.

what are peoples thoughts?
