Materials Compatibility / ProtoPasta Aromatic Coffee and Cinnamon
« on: December 10, 2016, 05:18:28 AM »
The 'golden' effect of Coffee is very nice, can be varied a bit with layer height/infill/temp settings. The effect needs horizontal walls.
Both filaments print nice below 200°, raft removal is easy (Z-Sense can be adjusted), support removal o.k. but better no support for the surfaces that are intended to show that nice glossy look.

Of course these are the best smelling filaments ever (only while printed).

Removed the perfboard from a bed and tried with Buildtak.

Works great and I found only advantages over the perfboard way:

- better leveling because BT is glued flat to the bed whereas the perfboard tends to lift in the middle
- better adhesion and raft removal because of the previous advantage
- no more plastic dust from scratching off a print from the perfboard
- I think cost will be less also compared to buying perfboards

On the pic that shows two bins, the left one was printed on standard perfboard, the right one on the Buildtak.
I used a cheap PLA, that caused the lower print quality and blobs, next test will be printing ABS.
Of course a Z-Sense is needed to do this seamlessly.

General Discussion / Micro Swiss Nozzles
« on: July 18, 2016, 09:21:56 AM »
I was ordering some Filament at the ProtoPasta shop and also the plated nozzles they offer for 15$.

They are Micro Swiss nozzles and I found them to work good and provide excellent contact to the sensing areas of the perfboard.
Well, last thing not an issue if there was something like a Z-HeighSense (BTW) ...

printed on ZT-HE at 0.29, unbelievable surface (almost no visible layers), great haptic, very lightweight.
