Title: v1.1.4 released
Post by: 0xdeadbeef on March 19, 2017, 06:36:48 PM
v1.1.4 increases maximum speedup to 150% but automatically suppresses speedup for the 1st two raft layers.

Has anyone experienced a sudden temperature drop error triggered when printing a zcode file with modified printing speed (140%)? I had the same error triggered twice. The unmodified files printed fine.

It seems somewhat plausible that extruding material more quickly (due to faster print moves) could lead to a temperature drop.
I guess the combination of Z-Suite 1.8.x with its 100% fan speed mania would make this more likely to happen.
Plus some people here have dual fan setups which are said to create this problem even with older Z-Suite versions in auto fan mode.

I don't use 1.8, but I do have a double fan setup. And indeed, the error triggered when the fans were switched on.

I guess Julia would recommend to either switch the fan off (or to a fixed low value) or to insulate the hotend.
It was discussed before to add a feature to either limit or scale down the fan speed. In the end, there was no strong demand up to now.

You can also launch at a slightly higher (5-10ยบ) temperature than your final target, wait for the system to recover from the fan shock, then dial the temp back down to where you really want it. It can be done blind, but using a multimeter or Z-LCD makes it a lot easier to see exactly what's going on.

What settings and material?
I had tested from 125 to 500+% with .19 and .39 layer heights with z-abs, normal speed, low infill. Version 1.8.1 and 1.8.2

Z-LCD has been a big help to me in getting prints dialed in just right.

ABS, 140%, 0.19 height, high infill, normal speed, ver. 1.7.x., currently v2 hot end (managed to destroy the threads of two z-temp hot ends). Thought there was a connection problem with the thermistor cable, but could not trigger an error when manually shaking the cables. Trying a 24h printing with 125% to see what will happen. After 14h keeps printing fine.
