General Discussion / Z-Temp Heat Bed Control - Switched wire colors
« on: June 05, 2016, 03:19:38 PM »
Today i installed the heatbed controller. It works. But i almost did not, because of the switched wires / colors.
The black wire of the z-temp hbc connector leads to the black wire of the bed connector, but the hbc connector
is plugged in the "wrong" way into the controller board: red to where black should be. Take a look at the attachments.

I had to take a precise look at the docs to notice that this is ment this way.

Is this a mistake in choosing the wire colors or is this something i do not understand ?

General Discussion / Re: Odd Extrusion Issue

Those vertical lines seem very fragile. I would not expect them to get printed right.

Couldn't you split the model in two so that the front piece and thus the vertical lines are printed directly & paralell to the bed ?

What about the random seam option ?

z-renegade thank you for the pictures, very interesting setup !
is the perforated board even needed in your first pic ?

I scratched the shim after the crash and it worked after that.

Thx

Today i noticed a subtle difference in the Z-GLASS profile regarding thin walls.
While with Z-ABS a 1mm thick wall is resolved by 2 filament lines, Z-GLASS profile
generates 3 lines. Take a look at the attached pictures.

i made my own 0.25mm shim using copperfoil i had from a previous project.
aluminiumfoil should also work.

the first time i used the z-temp shim my nozzle crashed into the build plate. i anticipated that
so i turned the printer off immediately.

the risk of crashing the nozzle using a foil could be lesser because of the softness of the foil.

I tried out the shim yesterday with Verbatim PLA, because i had problems removing the PLA without the shim.

The first shim print went south because the raft did not stick to the bed very well.
The resulting distance is too high in my opinion. I think 0.3mm would be better distance, at least with my Verbatim PLA.

Do you know something in common households that could be suited as an slimmer shim ?

General Discussion / Re: Height of the ZT-HE
« on: June 01, 2016, 02:58:59 AM »
good to know. but does the zortrax actually use up everything of the available z-height right away ?
maybe there is a tolerance and the print height could be still the same.

Materials Compatibility / Re: Innofil3D PLA - transparent :-(
« on: June 01, 2016, 02:44:36 AM »
i think the clicking that occured while printing with the zt-he came from the nozzle being too near to the printbed. i did not use the shim-thing

28
I would say yes. If the ZT-HE would behave somehow in another way for PLA (= having a bigger distance to the buildplate after self-reference) then that would
also be true for ABS and this would result in the ABS not sticking to the build plate !

My first PLA i used with Z-Temp is "Innofil3D PLA". With THE V2 i had a lot of extruder clicking while "mounting" the filament at 220°C and 240°C several times. A print with the V2 would not look very well, so i did not try.

With the ZT-HE i had no problem mounting, but i do have some occasional clicking while printing. I managed to finish a print. But the second print did not go well because of the filament quality.

The filament has a lot of residual stress (is this the right term ?) which causes the filament to jump over the roll & hook itself whereever possible. I also noticed alot of internal stuff going on due to the Z-Temp illumination of the transparent filament. It seems that the filament has a lot of bubbles.
