Extruder Motor clicking
« on: July 18, 2016, 11:03:41 AM »
Hey, I'm using z-temp with hotend v2 and I've recognized that when I'm printing with pla or petg in shell-mode the extruder starts clicking when he prints the (fast) infill. I have tried to turn up the temperature. I get a little bit less clicking but the quality gets worse. Im assuming the feed rate is to high. I have spare nozzle and I'm thinking to drill the hole up to 0,5mm.
Is that a good idea?

Hi Eddy,

That's why we created the ZT-HE hot end. The Zortrax hot end works with a few brands of PLA and some other materials, but most PLA will click. We did experiment a lot with 0.5mm nozzles and the v2 hot end and it might help short term with some materials, but you'll get underextrusion on the initial raft layers. Raising the temperature is also going to make raft and support removal difficult. Your best bet is to get the ZT-HE, which works with everything, with 0.4mm nozzle, and at lower temperatures. I'm printing most PLA and PLA/PHA at 195 - 205ยบ these days.
