So I'm sure you knew you could change colors mid print with Zortrax printers by holding the knob down for 10 seconds to pause, swapping colors, and resuming... but...
Has anyone tried this?:
- Start printing (with your Z-Temp installed)
- Pause the print
- Change the material to one with a different extrusion temp
- Change to the new extrusion temperature via your Z-Temp
- Wait for the temperature to settle
- Resume the print
If you went from lower-extrusion-temp to higher-extrusion-temp, the materials would be more likely to not have a problem bonding.
Or, you could go the other way around and just print a layer or few layers at a temp that is too high for material 2 (in hopes this would aid in bonding), then change it to the correct temperature.
Put your creative / thinker hats on.
What kinds of uses could this have?
How about a polycarbonate or nylon phone case with a flex-rubber backing?
If you try it or have any ideas for others to try, put them here!
